Easter Egg Hunt

On Monday, April 22, 2019, the Housing Authority of Darlington will host our annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The event will take place at 1:00 PM at our administration building on Bacote St.

This egg hunt is only for the Housing Authority of Darlington children, and children should bring their own Easter egg basket or bag to use.

Hot dogs and drinks will also be served to HAD children following the egg hunt.

Hope to see everyone there!


Taste of Darlington

The annual Taste of Darlington presented by the Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, April 11, at Darlington Raceway Garage Area.

Tickets are $30 per person in advance and $35 per person at the gate.

You must be 21 years or older to attend. For more information, call Lisa Rock at 843.992.1561.


Wiggles & Giggles: Story Time

Every Thursday at 10 AM, the Darlington Library (204 N. Main St.) hosts storytime. Currently, they have children 5 years and younger attending, but there is no cut-off age. If you have children who love to hear stories, this is a great opportunity to spend time with them. There is no charge for this weekly event.

Free Medical Clinic

The Free Clinic Darlington County is an interdenominational Christian Ministry providing free primary care, medications, and pastoral support to the residents of Darlington County who do not have health insurance and those who do not qualify for government health programs. The Free Clinic's volunteer healthcare providers, including doctors and nurses, seek to promote the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of all who need services and who are making sincere effort to help themselves and their families.

The Free Medical Clinic of Darlington County has two offices: Darlington - 203 Grove St. 843.398.0060 and Hartsville - 500 W. Carolina Avenue 843.332.0422.


Income Reporting

All income must be reported to Elaine Bell, whether it is Child Support, Social Security, Employment wages, Unemployment, or AFDC from the Department of Human Services. This includes income from all heads of household and adult (18 & older) household members. If you have any questions, please call 843.393.0436 ext. 2004 to speak with Elaine.


Recertification will start in May 2019. Packets will be arriving in the mail (corresponding with the month of your recertification). Please read everything in the packet.

Elaine would like residents to be aware that due to the volume of recertifications needing to be completed, she will only allow one (1) reschedule. Also, all necessary documents must be provided, and all adult household members must be present at the time of the recertification. There is enough time given to plan for, reschedule, or ask for time off from work to come to your appointment.
