Melissa Walker Joins Housing Authority of Darlington Staff
DARLINGTON, SC --- Melissa Walker recently joined the staff of the Housing Authority of Darlington, serving as Housing Specialist. In this role, Walker will work in both the Public Housing Program and the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Some duties will include, recertifications, interim rent changes, leasing and working with our landlords.
Originally from Florence, Walker holds a BA in Business Administration from Limestone University and an MBA and MA in Human Resources Management from Webster University.
With 10 years of experience, Walker brings their Affordable Housing expertise to the agency. Prior to joining the Housing Authority of Darlington, Walker served as the HCV Specialist for Housing Authority of Florence. In this role, Walker worked in all aspects of the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
Walker has 2 Children who both live in Greenville, SC. During her free time Walker enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

The Housing Authority of Darlington (HAD) is a HUD High Performer Public Housing Agency that helps provide decent, safe rental housing for low-income families, the elderly, veterans, and persons with disabilities. The Housing Authority of Darlington has a total of 168 subsidized affordable housing units and administers a total of 97 HCV (Housing Choice Vouchers). The HCV (Housing Choice Voucher) program provides rental assistance to low-income families who live in privately-owned rental properties.
The Housing Authority of Darlington administers both low-income public housing and Section 8 housing voucher programs in the City of Darlington. Some apartment properties provide senior housing, and most rental properties offer some form of rental assistance to make rent more affordable for very low-income families.
